More sock knitting

I finished the blue ones, and I am happy to start with something new!
Nice colour scheme...

Tea from Japan

I would buy these teas just for the packaging!

Autumn in my garden

This deserted swing stands symbol for my children growing up, and fleeing the nest. They are spending more and more time with their friends, and prefer to do that everywhere, but please, not at home!
This is of course perfectly normal, but not always easy...

Karl Blossfeldt

These pictures are not taken to pretend I can photograph like Karl Blossfeldt, I just want to point your attention to him.

His pictures of flowers, seeds, leaves... are so strange, he makes everything look like iron ornaments, or things from another world.

Sock knitting

Yes, I finally caught the bug of sock knitting... I had this one unfinished sock, somewhere in a drawer. And when I saw this red wool in a craft shop in Germany, I decided to give it another try. Result: aching hands, arms and back, and unfinished work in the house and garden.

I already finished one sock last night, I want to finish the second one before the end of the weekend.

But that'll be no problem, with a mug of coffee...

and the company of delightful Spips!

Monschau

This village was to me the perfect setting for a Tim Burton movie, a bit grey and a bit gloomy, but beautiful.

This house was quite impressive, it belonged to a rich cloth-making merchant.

On the walls were a lot of creepy portraits like this one.

Wittlich

We stayed in this hotel, the colours are beautiful, no?

There is a city legend about a pig and a carrot...

We went to see an exhibition with photographs of August Sander, he took portraits of all kind of people in Germany.

Young farmers

Boxers

Trier

Trier, not far from home, and already a different world.

The Porta Nigra (Latin: black gate) is a large Roman city gate in Trier, Germany. It is today the largest Roman city gate north of the Alps and has been designated a World Heritage Site. Quite impressive to see a Roman building, this size!

We also went to an exhibition of Constantin the Great, a Roman emperor. His main residence from 306 untill 316 AD was Trier.

The sky was blue, but it was sooo cold!

Approved by the cat

It's always such a nice feeling to finish a project, and I finally managed to crochet everything together and weaving in all the ends of threads! That was really the hardest part of making this blanket, but also the most rewarding one.
I'll have to think of making smaller projects, otherwise there is nothing to blog about in months.

The cat thinks it's okay.

I kept all the threads, it took me 3 weeks to weave them all in! And now I will throw them in the fire, because they gave me such a hard time.

Help the planet, two days late...

While reading a few blogs, I saw this call for a blog action day on the 15th of October. I know I'm too late, but I'll join in anyway.
If you want to read a few good tips, go here.
I try all the time to teach my children about the environment issue, but in vain, I'm afraid. They never turn off the lights when leaving a room, take long, hot showers and so on and so on...
Or maybe it's just adolescence.

A few sketches

A real sunday!

The perfect day for a walk in the neighbourhood...

and a bit of working on my granny blanket. I hope I can finish it before I am a granny myself!

Never turn your back on a cat while working on a blanket...

A doggy visit

Yesterday, we had the honour of a visit from Milan, the lovely puppy!

A week of drawing...

...autumn.
I haven't been drawing in my sketchbook for a long time now, and I really have to force myself to start again.
Once I am settled with my paint and pencils, it is so nice to do, and yet, it's hard for me to take time for it.
But here is my first drawing post after a too long time.

End papers

Something nice to look at: end papers of old books.

A golden day

Enjoying a sunny autumn afternoon...
