Autumn splendour

The trees are starting to change colour now, I see a lot of squirrels around the house, so I got inspired to make this mosaic with Flickr pictures (and this time I added one of my own pictures).

1. squirrels on the hunt, 2. siwanoy, 3. Whadaya know? Some parts *are* edible!, 4. living up to its name, 5. Wild mushroom, 6. Japanese Maple, 7. Black Cat Pumpkin, 8. hello my sweetness, 9. squirrel in kerchief, 10. view up my street, 11. lil' poser!, 12. Endpaper Mitts 1, 13. day 23, 14. toadstool, 15. apple, 16. toadstools

Thank you ebay!

As a child, I always wanted this doll, a cute Francie, but I never got it somehow (not that I didn't have any toys, I was a rather spoiled brat, really...).
And now I found this beautiful doll and a case and clothes(!) on ebay. And not even too expensive!
So I am really happy now.

Writers' rooms

Yes, I know, I am not a writer, but I took a picture of the shelves above my desk anyway.
And if you want to see the rooms of real writers, go here.
I admit that when I first visit someone, I'm always taking a look at his (or hers) bookshelves. It tells a lot of someone, no?

More embroidery

I managed to finish these today, ready to use for my quilt.

And no, this is not a piece of conceptual art, it's how the box with my embroidery thread looks like. That is how I left it when I was about twelve years old, after a few attempts at embroidery. Now I am trying to use this thread for Lucy's quilt, I can not throw it away!

Sweet pansies

What a cute little flower, a pansy! I bought a few to give my garden a bit of colour during the winter months.

And I found these in an old cross stitches book.

Busy weekend

Last saturday, there was a free podium in the garden of our neighbours. It was the first stage performance of the group of

my son Oswald

and his friends. And it was great!
And on sunday, it was the annual flea market in our village. I bought a lot of silly stuff there, like this fifties bunny.
I made my first stage performance as well, we had to dance with our tapdance group. I didn't stumble or fall of the stage, and I was a very happy person when it was all over!

Preparations for the cold

Washing and drying my quilts before the cold sets in. But I'm still hoping for an Indian summer!

Sigh...

This sewingbasket from Cath Kidston is definitely on my wish list!
And the needlebook is something I can make myself, maybe another cottage but same style?

Carrot cake

Another recipe from Tessa Kiros' book. This was my first carrot cake, I didn't know what to expect. Carrots in a cake???
But it tasted very good, even the children liked it.

Old magazines

Nice pictures in my old Marie Claire Idées.

At last...the sun!

Ward is enjoying the autumn sun. (we didn't get any sunshine in the summer...)

Unfinished projects...

I have another 34 squares to go... It's always hard for me to finish something.

I want to work on this new granny blanket! But no, I have to finish the other one first!
And when I have done so, I will post a picture of it here. Join the challenge to finish all your projects!

Books and bears

Another post about my daughters' room, as I am spending quite a part of my time there lately...
Today I was putting back her books on the shelves, and it struck me how many childrens' books have a bear as the main character. And this are only a few examples I came across.

This is her lovely Steiff bear, I bought him when I was pregnant. As you can see, he is already wearing his autumn outfit!

Back to school

Today we had to try to find back our old routine of getting up early and getting the children in time to school.

But when they were gone, all was quiet...
