Blog of the week

Eye candy, I love all this cute needlework. Such a pity I can't understand Japanese... But I can look at all these goodies, and so can you!

More sketches

This tealabel was too nice to throw away.

Another sketch for the book about "sight", a book with experiments for children.

What I really liked about the work of Alechinsky: you can clearly see his pleasure in drawing and painting, and his work is not pretentious at all.

A portrait of Lucy: her nose is too thick, her lips too big... I'll keep on trying!

Here I look like a ghost, in real life it is not so bad, I hope...

Wartime reading

I am indulging myself in the pleasure of knitting, gardening, walking and...reading, of course! I am in the middle of this book. It's strange how much a book can impress without even realizing it. Last night, I dreamed about air raids, London, and all that mixed up with going to a wartime museum...weird dream.
Listening to this kind of music also helps to get in the
mood of the wartime era.

Looking glamourous, even during the blitz! I bet this wasn't the reality, but women like to dream, don't they?

And here is a great link for free wartime knitting patterns.

Winter girl

Two more winter girls to go for my next block. I try to work around a theme for every block, and this theme is "winter".
I am longing for "spring"!

Knitting with cats

The colour of my knitwork is becoming Pooh beautifully, I think.

Sketchbook update

I am so much behind on posting my drawing journal! I'll have to catch up this week...

Capelet crazy

Crocheted Capelet, 7. swallowtail shawl 5, 8. anthropologie02, 9. Capelina merino y alpaca II, 10. swallowtail, 11. knit f o, 12. I know....I know....don't even go there., 13. ribbed lace bolero, 14. Curved Shawl with Diamond Edging, 15. Dream Blossom Capelet -Detail, 16. Vintage lace capelet
Yes, more Flickr inspiration! As you can see, there are a lot of talented knitters around... I don't think I will ever manage to knit something as complicated as the shawls you see here. I've never tried lace knitting, but it looks really beautiful to me.

Clothes with a high waistline, capelets and ribbons give me a real "Jane Austen-feeling". It's a fashion trend that really appeals to me, it always did.

Finally...

...I finished my work this morning, forty drawings for a children's book.
I spent the rest of the day vacuuming, ironing, cleaning, and I actually enjoyed it, certainly with the rays of sun in our house!
Although this was a rather big job, I managed to knit in the evenings and I finished my red cape.

I even started a capelet, with a cable motif. I want to wear it when I am working at my desk, to warm my shoulders.

Journal update

Because I was drawing all the time the last few weeks-for my job, not in my journal- I glued a few of my working sketches inbetween the rest.
Otherwise, I would be getting too much behind on my journalling!

Tulips

Today a quiet, sunny day...a bit of spring in the air, and a recovering husband!
